I’ve never paid particular attention to my school uniform. Because like all other uniforms, it’s just uniform, right? It’s just standard, plain, old, boring uniform that 1000 other kids in your school wears. But this morning, it hit me that I’m not going to be wearing my uniform for much longer. About two more weeks, and I’m free from it. My uniform is a simple white button down shirt with the school logo - a golden globe with blue detailing and the letters SC in blue on top of it - with either trousers (school logo on the back pocket) or a skort (a weird one, may I add…) and a jumper or fleece in a deep navy with the school logo on the front. This is pretty much a standard (UK style) uniform, and there’s nothing special about it…. But it brings equality to our school, so that everyone has to wear the same thing, and not be judged upon the clothes that they wear. It’s got some kind of meaning doesn’t it? I’m going to miss this uniform, either way. Good or bad. I’m going to miss not needing to get up and think about what to wear.
